The Character
By applying the terrorism incident by a cult organization in Japan as motif, Noda portrays the unstoppable urge of belief which all of us possess. His imagination had fully blossomed in this critically acclaimed work. The scene is set in a small calligraphy class in a town. There was a cult figure whom possesses undeniable power over his believers. When a “seeker” and a “persuader” meet, the world of Greek myth appears from a crack in dimension. Noda brilliantly portrayed the course of metamorphose of Greek Gods and layered with psyche of people’s belief into madness on stage. How did “an idealistic belief metamorphose into homicidal madness? ”. Unanswerable question yet uncontainable urge to pray delivered to the audience.
